i am a poet w/CDS available now...?Fire? is the best way to describe Zakiyah. Poetry that comes from the heart, goes to the heart. Born and raised in Chicago, her audiences are taken on a journey through her inspirational words, ranging from tears to laughter. She is absolutely captivating with her tales of life experiences that entertain the ?new skool? and ?old skool.? At the age of 23 yrs. ?Chichi? (a childhood nickname) matured, and Zakiyah (Arabic for intelligent, growth, and development) emerged. After a life which involved alcohol and recreational drugs, Zakiyah turned to Islam which gave her life a purpose. Awakened to a new reality, and a deeper, wiser understanding of life, she felt the duty to share her struggles and triumphs with the world. Zakiyah believes in self-development through meditation, good behavior, kindness, humility, and obedience to one?s Creator. Through spoken word she conveys to others how they may overcome any obstacles to reach to endless spiritual blessings and happiness. Teaching without preaching makes her work fresh and appealing to urban youths. Candidly airing all of her ?dirty laundry? allows her to connect and meet with her audience on their level and raise them according to their understanding.
on another note, i am cool peeps...i am a movie buff (bootleg or at the show:), i love reading, working out, i love music (r&b, neo soul, conscious hip hop), i like kickin it with friends/family, chillin on lake, all activities (skating bowling...that doesn't mean i am good at it:) i love sports! i enjoy me time, zikr (meditation) and prayer is very important to me...anything else you will just have to find out 4 yourself...
